The Morphological Awareness Treatment study focuses on improving kindergarten through second grade students' understanding of how meaning affects words' spellings and how words'
spellings give great insight into their meaning. Lessons are structured to help the students become more aware of how they can use what they already know (vocabulary, knowledge of words'
printed forms) to help them understand new words, both in print and in spoken language. The intended outcome is to help students create more meaning or understanding for what they read
and thus improve their reading comprehension skills.
