Assistant Professor, FSU, College of Education and FCRR, brings research expertise in language and literacy development in English and other languages (e.g., Korean, Spanish, Hebrew). As a former classroom teacher in inner city schools in elementary and high schools, and adult ESL learners, she is interested in the complex interaction between language and literacy acquisition. She has conducted extensive research on the relation of emergent literacy skills with early literacy development, the relation of reading fluency development with reading comprehension, and writing development. She also brings expertise in functional linguistics and children’s language use and development using CHILDES and SALT, and uses complex modeling including structural equation modeling and multilevel modeling.
