Comprehension through Oral retell, Monitoring, and Providing Awareness of Story Structure: The COMPASS study is designed to improve
children’s listening comprehension abilities by promoting text structure of narrative stories and help children can detect
inconsistencies in sentences for meaning. In prekindergarten, kindergarten, and first grade, students receive two types of screening
assessments and then an intervention to strengthen text structure knowledge and comprehension monitoring. The intervention consists
of two 4 week units.
